Our country is complicated. Always, and specifically right now. We all have things we want to change. We have things that we ache for and pray for because we know in our bones that they should be different. We feel the brokenness. We live the brokenness.
But a country is nothing more than the sum of its people. It is a product of those who inhabit it. And people are not to be given up on. Even when they are messy, broken, and complicated.
The time we are living in is wildly painful and most of us have felt gutted and helpless at some point. But today I choose to celebrate the beauty of the struggle. Of change and growth and evolution.
This time will mark our country. My prayer is that we aren’t marked by the division, but by a generation that rises up and views the world differently.
There is beauty. There will be victory. And we learn and grow through the struggle.
Happy 4th.
